TMA-1

Mission Info

TMA-1 delivered the first permanent 3-person crew to the IOSS.  During this mission, this crew saw the station nearly double in size.  Due to balance issues on the station, it was decided to dock TMA-1 to the nadir port on the Soyuz/Progress Docking Module.  This was not the most ideal location for the arrival of a Soyuz-TMA vehicle, because to keep the docking port in sunlit (which is more ideal for a manned vehicle), required rotating the station around.  The was corrected on the Progress 5 mission, allowing for the arrival of Soyuz-TMA spacecraft on the sunlit zenith port.
