STS-219

Mission Info:

STS-219 delivered the S1 (Starboard-1) Truss to the International Orbiter Space Station.  The mission marked the first use of the IOSS Remote Manipulator System (Station Arm) to install another station module.  To install the S1 Truss, the Station Arm had to reach down into the cargo bay of Atlantis, and then move the truss into position to install it.  Because of the location of were the S1 Truss had to be installed, only the Station Arm could install it, as the Shuttle Arm would not be able to reach.  STS-219 also marked the only time in the station program that 3 shuttle missions were launched back to back without any any vehicles arriving or departing from the station.
